Patron Services Associates
Know anyone who needs wants to be involved in theater, likes talking to people, and wants a little extra money? We are hiring Patron Services Associates to help us generate funds for our productions, community outreach, and artistic vision. Sales or fundraising experience helps, but we can train the right person. Competitive compensation includes base hourly pay plus commission and bonus, with flexible evening and weekend hours available.

House Management Associates:
California Shakespeare Theater seeks house management associates for the remainder of our 2009 season. Under the direction of the House Manager, House Management Associates are responsible for the efficient operation of all Front of House activities and audience comfort and safety at our 545-seat outdoor venue. House Associates staff all Main Stage productions including Student Discovery Matinees. Applicants must be able to: demonstrate diplomatic, tactful customer service and event management techniques; think on your feet and problem-solve in a calm, professional manner; act professionally under pressure and meet tight nightly deadlines. Demonstrated ability to effectively train and motivate volunteers is a plus. Must be able to exercise good judgment and give appropriate consideration to others when working with the public. Experience in retail, customer service, house and/or event management preferred. House staff will be required to observe a basic dress code and must be able to dependably work nights and weekends.

Teaching Artists:
Cal Shakes seeks seasoned Teaching Artists with educational and theatrical experience for our school residencies, after-school programs, and seasonal classes. We have a high demand for Teaching Artists who can partner with classroom teachers to incorporate arts-based strategies into History and English core curriculum (Shakespeare experience a plus), as well as for experienced theater teachers with afternoon availability.

Casting
We will be holding general auditions for our 2010 season (May–October) on the following dates:

AEA 11/8/09 & 11/9/09, 10am–6pm
Non-AEA 11/23/09 & 11/24/09, 10am–6pm

2010 productions: John Steinbeck’s The Pastures of Heaven by Octavio Solis (6/2–27); Mrs. Warren’s Profession by George Bernard Shaw (7/ 7–8/1); Macbeth by William Shakespeare (8/ 18–9/12); and Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare (9/22–10/17). Click here for further season details.

AEA LOA-LORT B. Prepare one Shakespearean monologue and one contrasting monologue of your choice, not to exceed three minutes total.
