What is RSS?

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method of receiving regularly updated links to the websites of your choice. Once you’ve set up a connection, or RSS feed, to a website, you’ll receive a list of updated content from a certain page or section of that site.

How can I receive RSS feeds?

There are several ways of receiving RSS feeds. The main method is to download a “reader” program. You can then set up you reader to receive RSS updates and information from websites that offer it, and peruse headlines and story summaries that link through to the full story.

There are several readers available for all platforms, many of which are free. Here’s a list of popular, free RSS reader programs:

Awasu Personal Edition: http://www.awasu.com/ Bloglines: http://www.bloglines.com/

What RSS feeds does California Shakespeare offer?
Cal Shakes provides an RSS feed for each of our current blogs, another for other updates to the main site (including events, reviews, videos, podcasts, and more), and a combined feed so you can receive all of the above delivered straight to your reader. The list to the left shows links to the feeds available—once you’ve chosen and set up your RSS reader, you can simply follow the instructions there to add us to your list of RSS feeds.
