Dear Future PIPs,
My name is Eden and this is my second year as Professional Immersion Program (PIP) Coordinator. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009 with a B.A. in Theatre Performance, and had no idea what to do next. In 2010, I moved to California and began my work at Cal Shakes as an intern in the artistic office. Still not knowing what was next, I worked hard, met wonderful people, and learned a tremendous amount about myself, theater management, and the Bay Area arts community. Now, I’m a full-time employee at Cal Shakes assisting the Artistic Director and running the program that jump-started my theater career. Not only have I built my professional résumé over the last two years, I’ve also built my theatrical résumé with roles, shows, and theater companies of which I’m proud to be a part. The Cal Shakes Professional Immersion Program has given me a place in the Bay Area theater community, and continues to help me grow artistically every day.
