Overview

Cal Shakers is a growing group of theater lovers in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who enjoy an insider perspective on Cal Shakes while supporting our organization through attendance, financial support, and volunteerism. As a Cal Shaker, you will:

  • Be invited to great membership parties and events, where you can network and socialize.
  • Be welcomed into Cal Shakes’ family of well-connected board members, staff, artists, and donors. 

Cal Shakers contribute to Cal Shakes simply by joining and attending Shaker events. Shaker membership and event fees help fund Main Stage productions, education efforts (particularly in underserved schools), and new-play development programs. For members who wish to delve deeper into the organization, volunteer opportunities abound.

Benefits

As a Cal Shaker, you will receive:

  • Invitations and complimentary or discounted tickets to all Cal Shakers membership parties and events.
  • Discounts on tickets to Cal Shakes Main Stage performances.
  • Discounts at the Cal Shakes Theater Store.
  • Backstage tours of the Bruns Amphitheater.
  • Invitations to Cal Shakes' annual gala.
  • Access to Cal Shakes’ Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone, Managing Director Susie Falk, and other Cal Shakes staff, board members, actors, and directors.

Events

You'll be invited to all Cal Shakers membership events and the Cal Shakes gala. Membership events occur at different locations in San Francisco and in Contra Costa and Alameda counties (including the Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda). Events are social, but provide opportunities for networking and recruiting.

    Upcoming events include:

  • March 17, 2012: One Great Party. Cal Shakes' annual gala at the Four Seasons San Francisco.
  • May 2012: Pre-season Preview Party. Get insight into Cal Shakes’ 2012 season before the sets are even built. Exact date and location (likely in Walnut Creek) TBD.
  • June 8, 2012: Cal Shakers’ special The Tempest event at the Bruns Amphitheater.


Vounteer

Cal Shakers can gain increased networking and leadership opportunities by volunteering at Cal Shakes. We welcome donations of time and expertise! You might choose to engage in:

  • Outreach: Organize a group of non-members to attend a Cal Shakers event.
  • Event planning: Serve on Cal Shakes' gala committee; or join the Cal Shakers steering committee and help plan Shakers events.
  • Committee service: Work with Cal Shakes staff and/or board members to serve as a resource in your field of expertise.

Join

Membership in Cal Shakers is annual on a rolling basis, running for twelve months from the date of your enrollment. The annual tax-deductible membership contribution is $75 per person.
