Thank you, Cal Shakes supporters: You made our 15th annual gala, La Dolce Vita, a complete triumph.

In every way, you helped us to break new ground with this tremendous event. You enthusiastically embraced our new location—the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco—resulting in a sold-out crowd and bringing together people from all over the Bay Area to celebrate our company and have a great time. You donated and bid with equal passion: The event raised more than $530,000 through ticket sales and the live and silent auctions. This is a staggering 57% increase over the amount raised last year.

The effect this will have will last far longer than a single evening. Your contributions help to make possible our work onstage, in classrooms, and in communities throughout the Bay Area. Through your generosity, we can continue to bring Shakespeare and the classics to life for thousands of audience members; foster a love of learning in underserved youth; and engage members of communities that typically lack access to the arts in meaningful creative ways.

In an era when the arts and arts education are particularly vulnerable, you have enabled us to preserve these resources and share them with generations to come. Thank you, friends, for helping us to fulfill our vision of “expanding the possible,” and for making the gala—and our Theater—such a success.
