Next season starts off with a production of Romeo and Juliet that I will be directing. I am hungry to explore that play’s visceral passion, survey its deep emotional landscape. Following that, I am thrilled to bring to our stage Noel Coward’s smart, sparkling romantic comedy, Private Lives, directed by Associate Artist Mark Rucker. Our third show will bring Academy Award-nominated actress Marsha Mason to Cal Shakes in Samuel Beckett’s brilliant Happy Days, an astounding portrait of a woman buried up to her waist in sand, and in the comically painful toil of her life. And for our final production, we’ll be making a vibrant, surprising new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Aaron Posner, Artistic Director of New Jersey’s Two River Theater Company.
I can’t wait to see what our 2009 season brings—the depth of feeling, vital theatricality, intelligent comedy, and continuation of this community of artists and audiences who are all connected by our love of bringing Shakespeare and the classics alive for everyone in our great Bay Area.
Best,

Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director
